Counselling for Couples

Relationships can bring deep joy, comfort, and meaning, but they can also be one of the most complex parts of our lives.

In couples work, I pay close attention to the patterns that shape your relationship - including how responsibility, care, and decision-making are shared.

Although I treat every relationship as unique, some relational patterns leave one partner less room, less voice, or more of the burden. In such cases, part of our work is making these inequalities more visible to all, understand them together, and reflect on how this dynamic developed. This isn't about assigning blame, but about creating hope and possibility for a more mutually beneficial relationship.

I aim to keep safety, consent, and mutual respect at the heart of the process. Poly and ENM partners welcome too.

Approaches that support growth & perspective

Couples counselling at Wide Lens Counselling draws from narrative, solution-focused and response-based approaches. These methods help couples understand their relationship story from new angles and notice the strengths they already bring to each other.

Together, we look at what you value as a couple, how you have managed past challenges and what possibilities might open up as you learn to communicate with more clarity and compassion. The goal is not perfection. It is creating space for understanding, choice and connection.

Most insurance plans cover counselling provided by a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work. Coverage varies by provider. If you are unsure, please contact your insurance company for details.

Your first session is simply a conversation. You do not need to prepare anything. We talk about what brought you in, what you hope for, and what feels most important right now. Together we decide on a direction that supports your comfort and goals.
