Welcome! I am Lori Helfenbaum (she/her), RSW, MSW. I'm so glad you're here.
I am a registered social worker with the ACSW (Alberta College of Social Workers) and have been practicing individual and family therapy since earning my Masters in Clinical Social Work in 2012. I completed a year-long internship in family therapy at the Calgary Family Therapy Centre, as well as numerous intensive trainings through the Vancouver School of Narrative Therapy and Re-Authoring Teaching in California. I've had the privilege of working as a psychotherapist in a wide variety of settings, including not-for-profit, post-secondary, healthcare, and private practice.
I provide a space where you can speak openly, feel understood and explore what matters most to you. I work with adults of all identities and backgrounds. My therapy practice is 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming.
Clients often describe my style as calm, steady, and welcoming. Here is what you can expect when we work together:
I believe therapy works best when you feel safe and respected. Every session is shaped around your needs and your goals.
I offer counselling across many areas of mental health and emotional wellbeing.
All sessions are confidential. You can speak openly without fear of judgment or professional scrutiny.
I hold a Master of Social Work and I am a Registered Social Worker in Alberta. I have many years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families with concerns related to identity, relationships, stress, life transitions, and emotional wellbeing.
My ongoing training includes:
I continue to learn and grow as a therapist so that I can offer a practice that is both grounded and responsive.
If you feel we might be a good fit, I would be happy to talk with you. You are welcome to reach out with any questions or to book a first session.
